Tony York: Hinckley
Tony is an active member of the St John’s church community in Hinckley, where he has helped to found a flourishing men’s ministry and supports a number of Christian initiatives, including the St John’s foodbank.
Away from Church life, Tony works for the charity FareShare, an organisation combating food poverty and food waste, and has became a well-known figure in the East Midlands.
former national newspaper journalist and media professional, Tony moved into the third sector world in the early part of 2017 and describes the switch as “one of the best decisions” he has ever made.
He is married to Julie, with whom he has five children (a boy and four daughters), a cat, a rat, two gerbils and a six-foot corn snake.
During the football season, he makes the 240-mile round trip to support Hull City, which for the last few years has become a test of soul and heart! And, when his body permits, he plays tennis and 5-a-side football.
