Simon fenn: North Norfolk
Simon grew up in the East London and had a successful career in the ICT sector working with various financial institutions and banks in the City of London. In his early thirties, he found himself searching for a deeper purpose and meaning to life, and started volunteering for a local youth club at a Baptist Church. Initially, he was resistant to Christianity but through their prayers, support and witness he made a commitment to Jesus and was baptised in 2002.
“What I found ‘attractive’ about their faith wasn’t just what they said but, more importantly, how it impacted how they treated their friends, their family, their partners, and the people they didn’t particularly like, and how they sometimes struggled putting their faith into action but were honest and open about it. Their faith was a real and authentic, not sugar coated.”
In 2010, Simon and his wife located to North Norfolk where he worked as the children, youth & families missioner for the Church of England, working in partnership with the local congregations. Simon currently works for Cromer Church as the Head of Mission, with a leadership responsibility for developing their mission strategy with a particular focus on families and men's ministry. His primary focus is to keep mission at the forefront of church life.
Simon is the ‘Who Let The Dads Out?’ representative for Norfolk. During his first year at Cromer, Simon implemented a framework for evangelism, and launched a men’s ministry programme of activities.
“For me Christianity is about living a transformed life through the power and sacrifice of Christ. It is knowing that I am unconditionally loved and accepted by our heavenly Father. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that I can demonstrate His love to those around me. My identify is in Christ not the world; I choose light over darkness, hope over despair, I choose to follow Christ and I try to live a life-style that honours and glorifies Him. I am excited by what CVM is doing nationally in winning men for Jesus Christ, and as a CVM area coordinator I endeavour to encourage, support, resource and pray for all those who have a heart for reaching men with the Gospel.”
Simon lives on the North Norfolk coast with his wife, Jemma, and their son Elias. In his spare time, he loves being with his family, taking coastal walks, running, reading and drinking coffee!
