Four Years Later ... Four Stone Lighter!

Just four years after vowing to lose four stone in weight, Dan Baldwin finished the Belfast Marathon in 3 hours 59 minutes and 14 seconds.

Dan, from York, has raised more than £1000 so far for a crucial 2012 CVM resource by completing the grueling run.

The 25-year-old Youth Worker said: “A few years ago I knew I had a problem with comfort eating, but when I saw that I was over 18 stone, I committed to changing my life. It took a lot of effort to master my eating habits and exercise regularly, but finishing the marathon in that time is a great way to celebrate what I’ve achieved with God’s help.

“I am proof that the majority of men can get fitter and healthier by eating better food and exercising more. I think the CVM Code Six stuff is superb as well. As Christian men we should take time to keep our bodies fit and free from any addictions.

“I know that God is using my story to help other men and I’m humbled by the sponsorship that has come in from the ground. I’ll be looking to run every major marathon in the UK over the next few years.”

defenders-packshot400x427.jpgDan’s effort raised a quarter of the funds needed to cover the CVM Defenders resource, which will help churches mark Remembrance Day and communicate the gospel effectively to those who gather at the church to remember the fallen and wounded.

The Defenders pack will be given away for free to churches across the UK and CVM staff are hoping supporters will donate generously.
