{"id":9332,"date":"2021-04-02T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-02T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cvm.org.uk\/blog\/?p=9332"},"modified":"2021-03-26T13:43:10","modified_gmt":"2021-03-26T13:43:10","slug":"good-friday-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cvm.org.uk\/blog\/thoughts-from-the-cvm-team\/good-friday-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Good Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As time has gone on I think I have become more aware of how much of a \u2018next\u2019 generation we are living in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let me explain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I remember sitting in the cinema in Harlow, Essex and literally being speechless as Neo, on the roof top went into bullet time and dropped back as an agent\u2019s bullets whizzed past him in super slow motion. I was stunned and just sat there, mouth open wide, eyes not blinking just in total awe and wonder of what I had seen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CGI effects from that point on would never be the same again, the Matrix was a game changer, and I left that cinema just amazed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently a video was shared to my men\u2019s group of a bit of stunning CGI filming, one guy wrote \u2018doesn\u2019t do anything for me, next.\u2019 He was spot on and went on to explain how we have arrived at a place now where very little \u2018wow\u2019s us\u2019 and consciously or subconsciously we are saying \u2018yeah whatever, seen it before\u2026next.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think society will always be seeking for a simple truth with no CGI &#8211; something that will change and rock that \u2018next\u2019 culture \u2013 for me, the unchanging moment we remember at Easter is it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No gloss, no effects \u2013 one man giving up his life&nbsp;\u2018Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.\u2019 John 15:13<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, we are also faced with the stark reality here that Jesus laid down his life for his enemies too. Those who hated him, hated his claims, teaching and life.
