{"id":9008,"date":"2020-09-08T07:00:36","date_gmt":"2020-09-08T06:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cvm.org.uk\/blog\/?p=9008"},"modified":"2020-08-07T10:46:00","modified_gmt":"2020-08-07T09:46:00","slug":"have-i-told-you-lately-that-i-love-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cvm.org.uk\/blog\/friends-of-cvm\/have-i-told-you-lately-that-i-love-you\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cHave I Told You Lately That I Love You?&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Have you told God lately that you love Him?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At our Men\u2019s Breakfast recently we\ufeff&nbsp;started talking about&nbsp;<strong>\u2018strange times\u2019&nbsp;<\/strong>and how some of us were not feeling very spiritual (in the absence of church and communion). Others were reviewing their values\/priorities (i.e. family as top priority).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was suggested that our current situation could be a prolonged season of&nbsp;<strong>Lent<\/strong>&nbsp;(associated with fasting \/ focus on God) during which we should consider treating&nbsp;God with respect for who He is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first Commandment calls us to Love God and that lead us into reflecting on&nbsp;how often we vocalise the words&nbsp;<strong>\u201cDear God, I love you\u201d; <\/strong>the emphasis often being the other way around.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saying \u201cI love you\u201d to God may feel strange, however&nbsp;John 17:3&nbsp;emphasises a \u2018knowledge&#8217; of God&nbsp;where such knowledge is not an intellectual concept but is a deeply intimate&nbsp;<strong>relationship<\/strong>&nbsp;(akin to Genesis 4:1 &#8211; Adam&nbsp;<strong>knew&nbsp;<\/strong>Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bore Cain).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With that overview one of the guys shared that he found the song \u201cHave I told you lately that I love you?\u201d helpful in realising that he needed to actually start saying \u2018I love you\u2019 to God&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, Rod Stewart famously sung the song with just that title: \u201cHave I told you lately,<strong>&nbsp;\u2026that I love you!\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 which could be a helpful reminder to us to verbalise the words<strong>&nbsp;\u201cI love you&#8221;<\/strong>&nbsp;to GOD.
