{"id":8295,"date":"2019-01-16T10:40:22","date_gmt":"2019-01-16T10:40:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cvm.org.uk\/blog\/?p=8295"},"modified":"2019-01-16T10:44:43","modified_gmt":"2019-01-16T10:44:43","slug":"brexit-whats-that","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cvm.org.uk\/blog\/50plus\/brexit-whats-that\/","title":{"rendered":"Brexit: What\u2019s that?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>How many words have been spoken since this new word Brexit came into being?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Has any new word been used so many times in so short a lifetime?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How many times has a new word been used to mean so many things? Can there be so many variations given to one word that have such potential to affect the future of the nation? And can so many people feel so important that they must contribute to this exposure within the public domain? Are they contributing to enable others to benefit from their wisdom? Is the need to feel that their representation affirms who and what they are; can it be that remaining silent is not an option? Perhaps self-actualisation gives some sense of personal security, voicing a previously undisclosed value, and putting this value into the public domain and bridging the gap with those who share like-minded values. Some may be led by the desire to affirm their role: that they are serving a constituent whose values may not be wholly consistent with their own. Notwithstanding the values being owned in a differing way, duty still calls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How many words over this period of time have been wasted?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brexit revelations are hitting the airways; cyber space is vibrating with yet more words, an avalanche engulfing the nation. Not just \u2018in or out\u2019? What kind of in, what kind of out?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The strong, the weak, the marginalised, those that care, those that don\u2019t\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Who will read the many publications waiting on the side-line that will tell the Brexit story?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cOf making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em>Ecclesiastes Ch 12 v 12<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Paul writes this in&nbsp;&nbsp;Romans 13:1&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cLet everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And again Paul writes this to his friend in 1 Timothy Chapter 2:1-5<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&nbsp;\u201cI exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour\u2026&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Better that we would be better praying for the fullness of God\u2019s grace to be on view as complex and difficult decisions are being made.
