{"id":6931,"date":"2016-03-31T06:39:58","date_gmt":"2016-03-31T06:39:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cvm.org.uk\/blog\/?p=6931"},"modified":"2016-03-29T12:01:04","modified_gmt":"2016-03-29T12:01:04","slug":"mature-or-ripe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cvm.org.uk\/blog\/50plus\/mature-or-ripe\/","title":{"rendered":"MATURE OR RIPE?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Having just attained the grand old age of 60, I was asked what it was like now that I was \u201c<em>mature<\/em>\u201d. I thought about this for a moment and the first thing that came into my head was cheese! But not just any cheese \u2013 a really rancid, mouldy, smelly cheese! One that would seer the sense of smell out of any pair of nostrils! Not a good image!\u00a0And then someone said that I was not mature but \u201c<em>ripe<\/em>\u201d! And you know the same image came into my mind. What is it with me and cheese?<\/p>\n<p>Many words in the English language can have different connotations and can conjure up different pictures in the mind \u2013 often quite opposed images.<br \/>\nIf I was to consider myself mature I would rather think of being a fine wine from which others can derive pleasure from the occasional sip.<br \/>\nAnd if I was ripe it would please me to know that the harvest of fruit from my life was helpful and encouraging to those around me.<br \/>\nI certainly don\u2019t want to be the cause of any great stink!<\/p>\n<div class=\"linkwithin_hook\" id=\"https:\/\/www.cvm.org.uk\/blog\/50plus\/mature-or-ripe\/\"><\/div><script>\n<!-- \/\/LinkWithinCodeStart\nvar linkwithin_site_id = 897245;\nvar linkwithin_div_class = \"linkwithin_hook\";\n\/\/LinkWithinCodeEnd -->\n<\/script>\n<script src=\"http:\/\/www.linkwithin.com\/widget.js\"><\/script>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkwithin.com\/\"><img src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.linkwithin.com\/pixel.png?w=750\" alt=\"Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...\" style=\"border: 0\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Having just attained the grand old age of 60, I was asked what it was like now that I was \u201cmature\u201d.
