Defending champion Rory McIlroy and world number one Luke Donald both failed to make the cut.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands\u2019 Euro 2012 nightmare came to an end last night after they were put out of their misery by Portugal. A Cristiano Ronaldo brace condemned the Dutch to a third loss in the group stage after Rafael van der Vaart had given them the lead with a strike from distance.<\/p>\n<p>Portugal qualified behind Germany, who beat Denmark thanks to a late winner from right-back Lars Bender.<\/p>\n<p>Greece qualified from Group A against the odds with a 1-0 win over group- leaders Russia to put their opponents out. The Czech Republic beat co-hosts Poland 1-0 to join Greece in the quarter-finals and will play Portugal in the next round. Greece will come up against the in-form Germans.<\/p>\n<p>The Aegon Championship at Queen\u2019s club finished in unusual circumstances after David Nalbandian was disqualified for kicking an advertising hoarding and injuring a line judge, causing his leg to bleed.<\/p>\n<p>Nalbandian was one set up in the traditional curtain-raiser to Wimbledon before the disqualification, gifting the win to his opponent Marin Cilic.<\/p>\n<p>The southern hemisphere completed a near whitewash against their northern counterparts in the weekend\u2019s test matches. England lost against South Africa for a second time 36-27.<\/p>\n<p>The visitors mounted a spirited second-half fightback after a poor first half which saw South Africa run up a 15-point lead with Ben Youngs going over twice in the second half. Scrum half Youngs will be forced to sit out the rest of the tour after injuring a shoulder in Saturday\u2019s test.<\/p>\n<p>Wales threw away a slender lead to lose out 25-23 against Australia. Mike Harris scored a last-gasp penalty to rescue the result for the home side despite tries from George North and Jonathan Davies.<\/p>\n<p>Scotland were the only European side to register a win at the weekend, beating Fiji 37-25. Argentina beat France 23-20.<\/p>\n<p>England\u2019s rugby league side beat the Exiles 18-10 at Langtree Park in a reverse of last year\u2019s result. Sam Tomkins\u2019 second-half try secured the win for the home side despite Daryl Millard\u2019s late score.<\/p>\n<p>England\u2019s cricketers comfortably beat the West Indies in the first one-day international at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Saturday.
