Matthew Ch. 2 v 16-18.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Narrator.<\/em><\/p>\n

A\u00a0 rival to the throne
\nSomewhere unseen,
\nUnknown.
\nThis would mean
\nAll little boys must die
\nWho had been
\nThat same night
\nOf visitation,
\nUnder the flame-bright
\nNight sky
\nOf that star\u2019s illumination;
\nStrange light<\/p>\n

To identify
\nThe World\u2019s light
\nAnd those who\u2019s plight
\nBecame a dark abomination.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s a score
\nOf babes, or more?
\nSmall thing
\nFor a king<\/p>\n

From hell to face,
\nA simple case
\nOf damage limitation.
\nIt was just a few
\nAnd rather little
\nBoys that died,
\nA mere mini-genocide.<\/p>\n

But guided by another dream,
\nIt would seem,
\nThe star King
\nHad by then gone,
\nWith father Joe
\nAnd mother Mary
\nAlready become one
\nMore refugee
\nFamily.<\/p>\n

So in fact
\nThe killing proved unnecessary.<\/p>\n

But, fooled and ignored!
\nAs king
\nFrom hell.
\nNo lesser thing
\nCould so bring
\nFear-blown pride
\nFrom its hide
\nAnd make it ring<\/p>\n

The death knell
\nFrom a sword.
\nYet a diff\u2019rent sound
\nWas really made
\nAs the blades
\nCut each round
\nAngelic head
\nFrom trunk and limbs.
\nJust sounds of dripping
\nAs they bled.<\/p>\n

No note from steel was rung,
\nThe only note heard sung\u2019s
\nA mother\u2019s scream
\nAs over roofs it skims.<\/p>\n

In this history
\nThis mystery
\nThis partly gory story,
\nOf joy and dreams,
\nOf lies and schemes,
\nOf fools and wise
\nAnd starry skies,<\/p>\n

There\u2019s one thing more,
\nDeep and terrible
\nThat even wise men
\nBack then
\nNever saw.<\/p>\n

Before this Truth,
\nDespite all schools
\nOf all wisdom\u2019s worldly rules,
\nAll wise become as fools.<\/p>\n

That by this birth
\nThe king of life
\nHe came to Earth
\nTo hell on Earth,
\nTo bring a life
\nThat\u2019s otherwise unknown to you and I.<\/p>\n

But to bring this life,
\nAn innocent must die.<\/p>\n
