Defending champions Manchester United would join the duo on nine points with victory in their Monday evening game with Tottenham.<\/p>\n<p>Four teams have four points, all thanks to victories this weekend. Aston Villa won 3-1 at home to Blackburn, Liverpool were 2-0 winners at Arsenal, Chelsea beat visitors West Brom 2-1 and Newcastle claimed a 1-0 scalp at bitter rivals Sunderland.  <\/p>\n<p>Queens Park Rangers bounced back from a 4-0 opening-day defeat by winning 1-0 at Everton, Norwich drew 1-1 with Stoke and Swansea held Wigan to a goalless draw.<\/p>\n<p>England\u2019s Cricketers were on the verge of a famous whitewash of world number-one Test team India.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Strauss\u2019 side, who ensured they would take India\u2019s top spot when they went 3-0 up in the series last weekend, were on course to win the last match at the Oval on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Ian Bell\u2019s Test-best 235 and Kevin Pietersen\u2019s 175 set up an imposing 591 for six declared. Despite Rahul Dravid\u2019s unbeaten 146, India were all out for 300 and forced to follow on. They were 129 for three going into the final day, needing 162 to make England bat again.<\/p>\n<p>Domestically, Surrey secured a home semi-final in the Pro40 with a 141-run demolition of Leicestershire. Also in Group B, Durham were on course for an away semi with an eight-wicket win over Northamptonshire.<\/p>\n<p>Sussex lost by 35 runs to Yorkshire but were virtually assured a last-four spot. Somerset and Essex were level on points at the top of Group C with Nottinghamshire after beating the Unicorns by six wickets and Gloucestershire by 118 runs respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Lancashire returned to the top of Division One in the County Championship with a 98-run win over Worcestershire. Division Two leaders Northants extended their lead thanks to a 165-run victory against Derbyshire.<\/p>\n<p>Wigan and Warrington continued to battle for top spot in Rugby League\u2019s Super League. Wigan thrashed Bradford 60-12 and Warrington beat fifth-placed Catalan Dragons 25-12.<\/p>\n<p>Third-placed St Helens lost 24-22 to Hull KR and Huddersfield, in fourth, were beaten 24-18 by Salford. Harlequins saw off sixth-placed Leeds 32-22 and the other two teams in the play-off places, Castleford and Hull FC, defeated Wakefield and Crusaders respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Scotland\u2019s Nikki Walker will miss the Rugby Union World Cup after sustaining medial ligament damage in Scotland\u2019s 23-12 warm-up win over Italy.
